Racing Victoria

In 2018, we worked with Racing Victoria to answer the question: How do we create the next major event for Racing Victoria? The company needed to test ideas in order to discover which event would be the most profitable, and learn how to best design and run the event in order to deliver maximum benefit to customers and the organisation.
We ran a one-day hack day off-site, in order to focus Racing Victoria’s innovation team and build the foundations of pretotyping and rapid experimentation in the organisation. We gathered representatives from major wagering organisations, a commentator from the Melbourne Cup, and staff from Racing Victoria, in order to generate as many ideas as possible.

Next, we worked directly with the Head of Racing and the Head of Strategy at Racing Victoria. Across five days, we worked through ideas, and tested and prioritised in order to surface the top 10 ideas. From there, we were able to run experiments that gathered the data they needed to make key decisions about the next event for Racing Victoria.
By using pretotyping and rapid experimentation, Racing Victoria were able to identify which ideas were worth pursuing and which needed to be killed. The result? An event that generates millions a year of new revenue for the organisation.
